Virtual worship will now be a permanent fixture at Grace moving forward, so if you are not yet ready to return, the Facebook Live option will continue to be available
The Grace Episcopal Church choir is under the direction of Paul Humphrey. They are a wonderful assortment of experienced and new-to-the-experience people who have a weekly choir practice and then lift their voices in worship at the 10:30 service.
The choir meets Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm in the Admin Bldg. across the street from the church at 112 W. Lang. Choir members also practice Sunday mornings at 9:30 am before the service at 10:30. The choir takes a small respite from Wednesday evening practices during the summer. Please contact the Parish Office at 281.331.5657 for details.
John the Baptist – forerunner for Christ, prepared the way. His was the voice crying in the wilderness (John 1:6-13).
Ushers are the forerunners of the Church; they prepare the church for service and are a vital part of Grace. For new visitors, ushers are the first friendly smile, a hand shake given and warm welcome extended. Join the group of leaders in making Grace a welcoming home to all.
Lay people, which are all of us who are not clergy, may participate in the Sunday worship services by reading one of two biblical lessons or Psalm at the designated part of the service. Layreaders are licensed by the church, but the requirements are minimal (must be 16 years of age or older). It is a very simple way to be a part of the worship service, but it is a vital part of sharing God’s word. The lesson is mailed to the layreader during the week before the service so that the person has a chance to read and become familiar with the reading.
Anyone interested in layreading should contact the church office at 281.331.5657.
Acolyting is a ministry of service by taking an active part in the worship service. The word acolyte means “attendant” or “one who helps”. Whether lighting candles, processing with a torch or are the Gospel bearer-you are an acolyte. This ministry is opened to all baptized members, adults or children in the 2nd grade and up. All children 1st grade and younger are called “Observers” and are welcome at all training meetings. Please consider joining the roll of Christ’s helper. Contact the church office if your child is interested in becoming an acolyte.
Other ministries include Worship leaders, Eucharistic Ministers, Eucharistic Visitors and Hospitality.
Joining a church means becoming part of a community that will welcome you, pray for you, and encourage you to get to know God, your world, and yourself more deeply.
